WHAT IS VENTURING

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade and under 21 years of age. Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

What did you do this weekend?

WHY CREW 58

In 2007 We had several older boy scouts in troop 58 that were very close to earning their Eagle rank. They were very active, served in leadership and had been on the adventures of the troop. But like so many such youth of their age they had done everything and began missing meeting for other activities and their trek to Eagle was faltering. So we began a Venturing crew. This was done so they could just go out and be scouts. To put to practice all the things they had been learning as boy scouts. So we began our high adventure experiences and we are proud to say that all those young men earned their Eagle and most are still involved in the Crew. Along the way we were lucky enough to get 2 great young lady scouts out of Girl Scouts, to join the crew and from that we have grown to 6 ladies and 10 young men and the Venture continues. On one of our adventures (a different story) we were taged as those guys and it stuck. So we are now "THOSE GUYS" of "KRU 58". We are enjoying all that life has to offer! We enjoy adventure, servining others, teaching, conservation, and horning our Lord in all we do! The Crew advisor is an Eagle Scout and the lady advisors have been involved many years in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and now the Venturing program. One of our Advisors was once a scout in the crew. So, if you would like a oppertunity to camp, hike, canoe, kayak, climb, rappel, ski, bike ride, help others or do many other outdoor actiities, check out Venturing, with Kru 58 or any of the other crews in South Louisiana. No experience necessary!!!!
